In this we ask you to record a statement to confirm that you are investing using Solidi and that you have not been persuaded to open the account by a third party.

It is critical that you make this statement truthfully – scammers will try and persuade you to make the statement even if it is not true. They will tell you:

• that it will make the process go more smoothly if you don’t tell us
• that they are your friends and it doesn’t apply to them
• that it is Solidi invading your privacy and so you don’t need to tell us
• and many other reasons.

Scammers are smart – they spend all day long cold calling people. They have heard every objection you will give and have a counter argument for each.

If you make this statement when it is not true then you will make it much harder for Solidi to protect you from scammers and you could lose all of your investment.

If you are being contacted by a scammer, put the phone down. Find a different phone and call the Police on 101 or ActionFraud on 0300 123 2040. Additionally, contact Solidi so that we can put restrictions on your account.

“It’s ok, I can afford it”

Many customers who get scammed tell us that the money is not a huge amount to them, they can afford it and they shrug it off. Unfortunately the money they may have lost is at best used to perpetuate the scamming. At worst it might be used to facilitate other more serious crime including drug trafficking, modern slavery, etc.

That is why it is critical to block every scam, no matter how much or how inconsequential it may seem to you.
